- Cumulonimbus - a cloud about to burst, a storm ahead, warning, building up. Floats, gaseous, shape and colour constantly changing, moving pressure system. Golden - red - great - white - blue - orange - warm - cool - black - indigo - yellow. Life on the street, sharp edges, calligraphy layers, territorial, a cloud about to burst. Tagging dogs marking territory. Abstract beauty, linear rhythm wanting to be recognised, sense of artistry rebellion, unique style - sameness - the absorbing nature of the street limited by a lack of understanding, limited by reason, afraid to be, to be? I never realised, now that I realise, slip away, collected, beyond belief, to be part of, we make the same mistakes again and again, sew the seeds of change, I have a lot of questions. The small scribbles between words that fill in the gaps that language leaves behind. Limited by one's own range of questions. Time to stand. Time too late. Music. Making static what is always moving, always changing, fixing to draw attention. A problem with forms, an ecstatic electronic mobility. Re-evaluate.

process
Urban, organic and human environments integrate with and without consciousness. I started taking pictures with my camera as I walked along the streets, of graffiti, stains, street signage and serial numbers on telegraph poles or wall textures or (official) street markings, anything that symbolises something to someone but remains a mystery to most. People walk past these marks and symbols everyday without notice or consideration of their meaning. I wanted to communicate and integrate these in my artwork in a different mode to create different forms. On a deeper psychological level, I prescribed them with my own meaning. Interestingly enough I have a similar relationship with the sky in that I want to give it new meaning in my paintings with these contemporary urban signs – non-conformist (tagging) on top of official directives, instructions and markers for city workers who manage our water and power, our rubbish, our public utilities. The sky is an important element in my current body of works (2006-08) – I combine sky scapes with the gritty animalistic territorial symbols of the tagging (graffiti) artists along with other urban visual marks.
